Presented By: Paul Winter

This concert, a journey through Paul Winter's world of "living music," will feature Winter's soprano sax with the voices of Wolf, Whale, Bull Elk, Whooping Crane, Woodthrush, and other members of what Winter calls "the greater symphony of the Earth."  His playing and singing, and the voices of the creatures, will be accompanied by the recorded sounds of his "two-legged musician colleagues," of the Paul Winter Consort.  The concert will be interwoven with stories of Winter's adventures making music in the wilderness and will feature music from his 2007 Grammy-winning album, Crestone, which includes the sounds of Apache singer/drummer John-Carlos Perea.

Winter's unique music and wildlife odyssey has taken him, over the past three decades, to 48 countries on six continents.  He has recorded 40 albums, six of which have won Grammy awards.  His environmental work has been honored by the United Nations Environment Programme, the Humane Society of the United States, The Garden Club of America, and the Connecticut Fund for the Environment.
The President's House and Garden

Where: Amphitheater - SWTC Mezzanine
Presented By: William Seale

William Seale is author of the recently updated two-volume set, The President's House—which includes an epilogue on the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush years.  He also serves as editor of White House History, the journal of the White House Historical Association.  Drawing from his vast knowledge of this national landmark, Seale will offer an unforgettable account of the White House from its origins during the nation's beginning to today, a continuing story of adapting and altering, yet always keeping close to the original image and purpose of the landmark. In addition to showing how the different presidents and their families used and lived in the White House, he will also reveal the roles played by scores of characters—butlers, housemaids, caterers, gardeners, coachmen, architects, interior decorators, and even fortune-tellers—in the keeping and management of the house.

Raconteur as well as scholar, Seale will delight listeners with behind-the-scenes glimpses of the private and public lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Tiffany & Co.:  Flora and Fauna: 170 Years of Tiffany Excellence
$10.00 USD

When: Friday, June 17th 14:00 – TBD
Where: Cityview Ballroom - SWTC Plaza Level
Presented By: John Loring
Design Director: Emeritus / Author

Mother Nature is the best designer has served as the unofficial motto for Tiffany & Co. ever since Charles Lewis Tiffany founded his company in 1837, and on June 17th,  Tiffany’s renowned design director emeritus and author, John Loring will present both archival images and current examples of Tiffany’s stunningly bejeweled plant and animal kingdom.

Early highlights from Tiffany’s floral bounty include Edward C. Moore’s Japanesque silver pitcher decorated with irises inspired by the woodblock prints of Hiroshige; John T. Curran’s rich Art Nouveau magnolia drawings and his dazzlingly ornate Magnolia Vase; Paulding Farnham’s delicate orchid drawings, which were the inspiration for lavishly enameled and jeweled brooches; and Louis Comfort Tiffany’s own Wisteria lampshade. The company’s mid-20th-century designs were dominated by Jean Schlumberger’s elaborate couture jewelry depicting everything from daisies to pea pods. Contemporary triumphs include such pieces as Elsa Peretti’s Amapola (red poppy) brooch and Paloma Picasso’s flower earrings and pins with rock-crystal petals and gemstone centers.
